BBH·Keeping up with the Books

About the Book Blogger Hop by Coffee Adicted Writer

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, I relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

This week’s question:.

Do you review all of the books you read?

I want to at least review every novel I read but time is weird and my attention span is bullshit (as proved by my latest review The Gilded Wolves, a book I read in January)

Someone who doesn’t have an attention span like mine is clearly BookWyrmKnits who has an organized list of all the books read and to read for July AND STILL FINDS TIME TO KNIT! Truly a hero of our time

Back to keeping up with stuff,, ChroniclesOfACreativeMess has a lovely post on how to build online relationships with other bloggers! All the tips are simple but efficient and I’ll be applying all of these. After all, these series started because I wanted to hype all the blogs I stumbled upon!

This week’s question:.

Would you or do you choose a book solely on the cover?

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: I’m a shallow person that loves pretty things.

This doesn’t mean I won’t read a book with a cover I don’t like, it’s just that a pretty cover makes me want to know more about the story..

Speaking of covers… this year has been a blessing for fantasy book covers and I wish I could buy them all.

Emma @EmmasChapter has a brand new Top 5 Wednesday on debut novels, and they all look amazing

Ara @FoldedBetweenThePagesOfBooks talks about what a fantasy book should have to become an Automatic Read (there’s a whole series on automatic reads for different genres!)

For those blogger out there looking to be judged by more people ElgeeWrites has a super helpful post about SEO (Search Engine Optimization). This will help boost your content on Google and other search engines. We all wish we could yell loud enough so everyone would hear about the books we love, this is the next best thing.

This week’s question:.

Have you ever been called a “book nerd?” If so, how did you react?

I’ve literally called myself that since I learnt the term, thankfully I always had good friends so if I ever was called that then it was affectionately.

My reactions vary depending on the situation, from smiling and continuing talking about a book to hitting my friend in the head with whatever book I had at the time

And I say it with all the love in my bookish heart

First blog this week is Thrice Read who shared their current TBR, or at least the top ten, and they are all bangers. I haev a few of those on my own TBR as well so you should go and check them out-

Next one, I found it through twitter and it’s Fictionally Sam who has a series called Hot Off The Press where they share all of the new releases! This is especially helpful when there’s so much good stuff that I sometimes forget about some books that I wanted to get.

This week’s question:.

What’s the oldest work (by publication date) you’ve read?

Since I want to talk about Pride on this posts I’ll pick the one of Achilles getting so angry about Hector killing his boyfriend that he clogs the fucking river with dead bodies and then fights the river and literally everyone else

1372

I’ve read enough ancient classics that this is a hard questios because they are SO old we don’t even know which came first….

Bookish Heights is giving us all the underhyped recs! I love these kinds of TBRs because it always helps me find new authors to love and if you see the other posts on the blog you’ll find even more book recomendations!

Looking to add more color to your pride? Than you should definitely head over to Michelle Likes Things she has some amazing recs but I especially liked the space for queer authors of color

Scribbles & Stories is all of us by making a TBR for a world where one can read infinite books (hard same), the books mentioned are really good and I’ve gotten some I hadn’t heard about before

Do you read books over 400 pages?

Yessss

I love reading really long books because I feel like they can give me more story. I tend to  read either long books or series because it’s never enough.. and so, today’s bloggers have some great books that are great for readers like me!

Fantastic bloggers to follow

First of all, the blogger that brough this perfect new bookmeme to my attention! The Book Nook UK has a list of un-put-down-able reads and Game of Thrnoes is the first one, which they read IN ONE DAY that’s well over 400 pages… this is definitely witchcraft

A blogger after my own heart, A Court of Coffee and Books has so many good reacs, but especially The Beholder, a story about a girl setting sail to look for oportunity on the other side of the Atlantic, a retelling of one of my all-time favorite classics: The Odyssey

Just over 400 pages is the book reviewd by A Kernel of Nonsense, and also my newest addition for the TBR pile. I’ve seen Sorcery of Thorns quite a lot lately but this particular review convinced me to give it a try.
