FR·A Destiny of Dragons

Friday reads was invented by The Candid cover

It’s a book meme that mixes two already existing:Friday Reads

  • Book Beginnings is a book meme hosted by Rose City Reader where participants share the first sentence (or so) of the book, along with initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.
  • The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda’s Voice, and the rules are quite simple: Grab a book, any book, and turn to page 56 or 56% in your e-reader. Find any non-spoilery sentence(s) and post.

Book Beginnings

I was seventeen when I brought a bird back to life.

And we’re starting with a reminder of just how powerful our main is. I love when we have lovable characters that can do the most unnatural stuff. It give the story such a delightful contrast of light and dark.

The Friday 56

After the whole… debacle that was our fucked-up courtship, my mother and father had invited Ryan out to lunch, telling me in no uncertain terms that I was not allowed to join them.

And that’s how you end up with a dead boyfriend letting your really protective parents go on a secret lunch with him…

WWW Wednesday

I’m not dead! (Yay) I’m finally mostly settled in Edinburgh so the first thing I needed to do was get back into a posting schedule. I promise notthing but I will try and post a few times each week. For now I’m sticking to memes and reviews though.

This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived on Taking on a World of Words.

It’s basically to check in, see what I’m reading at real-time.

The Three Ws are:

  • What are you currently reading?

  • What did you recently finish reading?

  • What do you think you’ll read next?

WoW·Woven in Moonlight

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine which spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases.

Listen, it doesn’t matter how far away these books are because I already love them and everyone else should be looking out for them too

I found this book on twitter a while ago but didn’t make a WoW because it was so far away BUT NOW IT’S LESS THAN A MONTH. It looks absolutely amazing and the cover is already one of my 2020 favorites. Next year is gonna be so good you all

ALSO I just got an ARC for this one and I’m in love

40877706. sy475 A lush tapestry of magic, romance, and revolución, drawing inspiration from Bolivian politics and history.

Ximena is the decoy Condesa, a stand-in for the last remaining Illustrian royal. Her people lost everything when the usurper, Atoc, used an ancient relic to summon ghosts and drive the Illustrians from La Ciudad. Now Ximena’s motivated by her insatiable thirst for revenge, and her rare ability to spin thread from moonlight.

When Atoc demands the real Condesa’s hand in marriage, it’s Ximena’s duty to go in her stead. She relishes the chance, as Illustrian spies have reported that Atoc’s no longer carrying his deadly relic. If Ximena can find it, she can return the true aristócrata to their rightful place.

She hunts for the relic, using her weaving ability to hide messages in tapestries for the resistance. But when a masked vigilante, a warm-hearted princess, and a thoughtful healer challenge Ximena, her mission becomes more complicated. There could be a way to overthrow the usurper without starting another war, but only if Ximena turns her back on revenge—and her Condesa.

What Are You Reading Wednesday

I saw this meme back at The Introverted Booknerd:

What Are You Reading Wednesday was created by RhiannaMarissa, and Kendall. The idea is to create a space for book lovers to share, discuss, and recommend the books they are currently reading and loving.

MY CURRENT READ

1. Why did you decide to pick up this book–cover or content?

Content! I read the Raven Cycle books a few years ago and really enjoyed it, Ronan was even my favorite character so the posibility of an entire trilogy just about him was too good to pass up.

2. Who is your favorite character so far, and why?

I knind of answered that above… But ignoring the main character?

I really love Declan, he truies so hard to be a serious and productive member of society, while keeping his family safe. And he fails so hard at all of that…

3. Will you finish this one?

Definitely.

I’m dealing with finals at the moment, which is the only reason I didn’t finish this in two days. By the end of the week I’ll be done with it

4. This book reminds me of…

9361589In the sense that it’s whimsical and has different points of view that mix and separate along the story.

5. What type of read is this one? (Slow but interesting, cannot put it down…)

This is the kind of read that sucks you in and you don’t realise time is passing by as you read. You know the ones where you raise your head and suddenly it’s 3 am and you haven’t gone to bed yet.

This book is so delightfully weird! It has dreams and dreamers, an undreground blackmarket full of strange things and people, three brothers, and six girls who are actually just one split up.

I’m enjoying this even more than the original The Raven Cycle books (probably because Ronan’s always been my fave)

Book Beginnings

This is going to be a story about the Lynch borthers.

My favorite kind of story (and of brothers)

The Friday 56

“I don’t believe you,” he said out loud. “I have trust issues.”

Why is this so funny? Ronan doesn’t have an issue talking about his issues and I love him

Changes In My Reading Life

(Maybe you like different genres or topics, maybe you read faster than you used to, maybe you only like standalones now)

Everything changes, and our reading habits are not the exception, I’m still in love with high fantasy and YA contemporary romances but over time, especially this year, I’ve been reading further from my comfort zone and finding out new favorites.
