What Are You Reading Wednesday

I saw this meme back at The Introverted Booknerd:

What Are You Reading Wednesday was created by RhiannaMarissa, and Kendall. The idea is to create a space for book lovers to share, discuss, and recommend the books they are currently reading and loving.

MY CURRENT READ

48449340. sy475

1. Why did you decide to pick up this book–cover or content?

Content! I read the Raven Cycle books a few years ago and really enjoyed it, Ronan was even my favorite character so the posibility of an entire trilogy just about him was too good to pass up.

2. Who is your favorite character so far, and why?

I knind of answered that above… But ignoring the main character?

I really love Declan, he truies so hard to be a serious and productive member of society, while keeping his family safe. And he fails so hard at all of that…

3. Will you finish this one?

Definitely.

I’m dealing with finals at the moment, which is the only reason I didn’t finish this in two days. By the end of the week I’ll be done with it

4. This book reminds me of…

9361589In the sense that it’s whimsical and has different points of view that mix and separate along the story.

5. What type of read is this one? (Slow but interesting, cannot put it down…)

This is the kind of read that sucks you in and you don’t realise time is passing by as you read. You know the ones where you raise your head and suddenly it’s 3 am and you haven’t gone to bed yet.

FR·Call Down the Hawk

Friday reads was invented by The Candid cover

It’s a book meme that mixes two already existing:

Friday Reads

  • Book Beginnings is a book meme hosted by Rose City Reader where participants share the first sentence (or so) of the book, along with initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.
  • The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda’s Voice, and the rules are quite simple: Grab a book, any book, and turn to page 56 or 56% in your e-reader. Find any non-spoilery sentence(s) and post.

This book is so delightfully weird! It has dreams and dreamers, an undreground blackmarket full of strange things and people, three brothers, and six girls who are actually just one split up.

I’m enjoying this even more than the original The Raven Cycle books (probably because Ronan’s always been my fave)

Book Beginnings

This is going to be a story about the Lynch borthers.

My favorite kind of story (and of brothers)

The Friday 56

“I don’t believe you,” he said out loud. “I have trust issues.”

Why is this so funny? Ronan doesn’t have an issue talking about his issues and I love him

Shots on Goal-Cover and a teaser!

Me? Reading another romance book about hockey players?? You know it

This one comes out next year but the author was kind enough to send me an ARC! And a teaser to share with all of you!

Summary

47968323. sy475

Recently traded to the newly formed Vermont Trailblazers, professional hockey player Roman Kinsey needs to focus on helping the team win games and filling the stands, not on the blond, bespectacled part-timer who works at the library he volunteers at. He knows all too well that outing himself equals heartache and ridicule…or worse.

Cody Evans, psych major and grad school hopeful, notices everything and thinks too much. But he doesn’t know what to think when he sees Roman reading to kids. The rugged hockey player just doesn’t look like the type. But it stirs something in him, something he’s never felt before.

When the library is threatened with closure, Cody enlists Roman’s help. As they get to know each other better…much, much better…they realize that they have more in common than books. But Roman’s keeping a big part of himself from his team, and giving in to his feelings for Cody might be more than he’s willing to risk.

Expected publication: January 7th 2020 by Amy Aislin

Book Beginnings

When I dreamed, these pinpricks of light filtered through the trees of an old forest.

Dreams are so important on this series and we are starting off with one. I can already feel the angst pouring out of this one.

The Friday 56

If you speak even a word of what you see, then all the death that follows will be stained upon your fangs and claws as if you were the one who dealt the killing blow.

And this is on PAGE 56 of 478. We are getting right into it, aren’t we?

I’m almost finished and it gets even more intense. I can feel a massive book hungover coming my way, but it’s totally worth it

TJ Klune has no chill and he wants to murder us all

Funfact! The title in Spanish actually translates to Council of Shadows wich does sound slightly more badass

All translations are my own

Book Beginnings

Delilah Bard had a gift for finding trouble.

She does and I love her. I’m so excited to get back into this world!

The Friday 56

Life on Grey London had taught her how to rest without ever really sleeping.

Than sounds… healthy… Nobody said pirates were the models for mental health but I do hope that Lila can get better while living on the ship; maybe learn to relax a little bit.

This bbook is SO GOOD though. I can’t stop reading it, it’s super cute and hard hitting at the same time. Rosa has to deal with a feeling of disconect with her cuban roots while planning a festival to save her town, falling in love witth a cute guy with a boat and deciding where to go to college.

Book Beginnings

The matriarch of House Kore adjusted the Christmas present in her arms.

Quick look into the past, before things went to shit. I love when authors consider we haven’t suffered enough and so they give us more tragic backstory

The Friday 56

“We need to–” started (NAME), but a crashing sound drowned out her words as a stone hand the size of an armchair pummeled through the ceiling.

WHAT IS EVEN HAPPENING I need to keep reading

I’m picking this back up and not putting it down until I’m done! It took me a couple of chapters to get into it (because I kept getting distracted with other new releases) but this time I’ll finish it!

Book Beginnings

Ask me to spin the finest yarn or thread, and I can do it faster than any man– even with my eyes closed. Yet ask me to tell a lie, and I will stumble and falter to think of one.

I immediately trust her and want her to be happy. Natural honesty is just so precious to me, I hope nothing bad happens ever but I’m not holding my breath….

The Friday 56

“I saw how protective [he] is of you. Yet he respects you.”

Hmmmmmmm who could this be about???

This book is so amazing that I’m reading it in just two days. The main character is brave and believable, the love interest is tall-dark-and-handsome done right, and the world building is compelling.
