Weirdest things I’ve used as bookmarks

I don’t know how many of you are active on book twitter but earlier this week a company called ChexMix, posted this distressing picture:

And everyone freaked the fuck out, like we haven’t been joking that we use literally anything but bookmarks all the time.

I found it extremely funny and retweeted it but the public outcry (obviously nothing serious but still) made me think of all the stupid shit I’ve put between pages just so I could keep reading later.

And thus, this post was born: shit I’ve used instead of the cute artistic bookmarks I actually own ft. The Gilded Wolves

Another book

If it fits it sits and sometimes I’m closer to my bookshelf than anything else so… book it is

Kindle/Tablet/Any kind of e-reader

It’s really thin and doesn’t slide(?) what was I supposed to do? Get up and find a proper bookmark?

There’s nothing better to accompany a book with than some tea so what better way to keep your place?

Embroidery thread

I have a lot in many different colors and they are usually not in their box so they may as well be kept in a book

These are always on my bedside table, sometimes I only have that and my book so it’s my default night-time bookmark

Diseño sin título

Soft and reliable, I have kept only two plushies from my childhood and this is the most attention they get these days

Scented Candles

They are pretty and if I use them enough the books end up taking the scents, it’s a win-win scenario

I just have them close at hand and they are heavy enough to keep my paperbacks open for me

Same as the medals, good weight to keep books wide open when I’m not there to hold them

Hockey Sticks

OKAY, I DON’T ACTUALLY HAVE A GOOD REASON They are just there and I’ve used them a couple of times when I was just too damn lazy to think of anything

Bonus: My sister’s cat (Not recomended)

She may hate me (the cat, not my sister) but she’s adorable and likes to rub on my books while I’m reading them so she gets a special mention (that is my hand on the second picture trying to avoid an untimely demise)

And of course I couldn’t end this post without mentioning VitaminWater, who wanted to get in on the hype and posted their own trainwreck

While I respect the funny I don’t see myself quite desperate enough for this… maybe

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve used as a bookmark?

Book lover and hockey goalie from Argentina. Trying to figure life out
