WoW·Infinity Son

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine which spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases.

Listen, it doesn’t matter how far away these books are because I already love them and everyone else should be looking out for them too

Let’s be clear, I’ll be yelling about this book for the forseeable future but I decided to feature it today becasue of the cover reveal!

Infinity Son (Infinity Cycle #1)

by Adam Silvera

34510711. sy475

Balancing epic and intensely personal stakes, bestselling author Adam Silvera’s Infinity Son is a gritty, fast-paced adventure about two brothers caught up in a magical war generations in the making.

Growing up in New York, brothers Emil and Brighton always idolized the Spell Walkers—a vigilante group sworn to rid the world of specters. While the Spell Walkers and other celestials are born with powers, specters take them, violently stealing the essence of endangered magical creatures.

Brighton wishes he had a power so he could join the fray. Emil just wants the fighting to stop. The cycle of violence has taken a toll, making it harder for anyone with a power to live peacefully and openly. In this climate of fear, a gang of specters has been growing bolder by the day.

Then, in a brawl after a protest, Emil manifests a power of his own—one that puts him right at the heart of the conflict and sets him up to be the heroic Spell Walker Brighton always wanted to be.

Brotherhood, love, and loyalty will be put to the test, and no one will escape the fight unscathed.

Expected publication: January 14th 2020

We are getting a fantasy from one of my all-time favorite authors!!! I’ve had this pre ordered since the day it was available and I’ll probably read it in a day or less and then re-read it immediately after.

The Infinite Noise by Lauren Shippen *ARC Review*

The Great Amazing Feelings Boy rides again, this time feeling stronger than ever

Title: The Infinite Noise

Series: The Bright Sessions #1

Author: Lauren Shippen

Publishing Date: September 24th 2019

Format: E-ARC

Length: 336 Pages

Rating: 4/5 ★★★★☆

Summary:

44162916. sx318 Lauren Shippen’s The Infinite Noise is a stunning, original debut novel based on her wildly popular and award-winning podcast The Bright Sessions.

Caleb Michaels is a sixteen-year-old champion running back. Other than that his life is pretty normal. But when Caleb starts experiencing mood swings that are out of the ordinary for even a teenager, his life moves beyond “typical.”

Caleb is an Atypical, an individual with enhanced abilities. Which sounds pretty cool except Caleb’s ability is extreme empathy—he feels the emotions of everyone around him. Being an empath in high school would be hard enough, but Caleb’s life becomes even more complicated when he keeps getting pulled into the emotional orbit of one of his classmates, Adam. Adam’s feelings are big and all-consuming, but they fit together with Caleb’s feelings in a way that he can’t quite understand.

Caleb’s therapist, Dr. Bright, encourages Caleb to explore this connection by befriending Adam. As he and Adam grow closer, Caleb learns more about his ability, himself, his therapist—who seems to know a lot more than she lets on—and just how dangerous being an Atypical can be.

“What if the X-Men, instead of becoming superheroes, decided to spend some time in therapy?”

(Vox on The Bright Sessions)

As this hasn't come out yet the review is spoiler free!

BBH·Always with me

About the Book Blogger Hop by Coffee Adicted Writer

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, I relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

Do you always have a book with you?

No matter where I’m going, my kindle is always in my bag (you never know when you’ll have a few minutes of free time) and if I’m going somewhere I can’t use technology (like the bank or some oficial building) I make sure to carry a physical book as well

This week I hopped to:

Isobel’s Book Corner has some highly anticipated upcoming releases that I’d love to take with me, great authors with great covers (you know I’m weak for pretty covers) It’s quite a young blog so you should definitely go and show them some love!

You know something I’d like to carry along way more often? Different settings! Last weeks’ Top Ten Tuesday was all about which ones we’d like to see more of in YA fantasy and Hannah @Books, Life & Other Oddities has the perfect list. If you are writing or want to write a book and are not sure of the setting just pick one from this list and I’ll be guaranteed to read it

The Third Annual 2019 Book Blogger Awards are taking place right now! You have until July 31 to place your votes. This a great way to boost your favorite bloggers and discover new ones!

Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim

I want you to know that some journeys have ends, but not this one. This one will change you. Irrevocably.

Title: Spin the Dawn

Series: The Blood of Stars #1

Author: Elizabeth Lim

Publisher: Knopf Books for Young Readers

Format: E-Book

Length: 400 pages

Rating: 5/5 ★★★★★

Summary:

42747498Project Runway meets Mulan in this sweeping YA fantasy about a young girl who poses as a boy to compete for the role of imperial tailor and embarks on an impossible journey to sew three magic dresses, from the sun, the moon, and the stars.

Maia Tamarin dreams of becoming the greatest tailor in the land, but as a girl, the best she can hope for is to marry well. When a royal messenger summons her ailing father, once a tailor of renown, to court, Maia poses as a boy and takes his place. She knows her life is forfeit if her secret is discovered, but she’ll take that risk to achieve her dream and save her family from ruin. There’s just one catch: Maia is one of twelve tailors vying for the job.

Backstabbing and lies run rampant as the tailors compete in challenges to prove their artistry and skill. Maia’s task is further complicated when she draws the attention of the court magician, Edan, whose piercing eyes seem to see straight through her disguise.

And nothing could have prepared her for the final challenge: to sew three magic gowns for the emperor’s reluctant bride-to-be, from the laughter of the sun, the tears of the moon, and the blood of stars. With this impossible task before her, she embarks on a journey to the far reaches of the kingdom, seeking the sun, the moon, and the stars, and finding more than she ever could have imagined.

Steeped in Chinese culture, sizzling with forbidden romance, and shimmering with magic, this young adult fantasy is pitch-perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas or Renée Ahdieh.
