Resolutions’ check in

We are now on the final stretch of the year! And what a year it’s been… So we are, for the last time before the wrap up, checking in on how well I’m keeping up with the damned  New Year’s Bookish Resolutions

Resolutions' Check In

Read 100 75 books

A while ago I changed my Goodreads goal since I was getting a bit overwhelmed and there was no point in doing it if I wasn’t having fun. Now I’m pretty close to my goal and if I manage to finish all the books I’ve started and put down this month I’ll be comfortably ahead of schedule.

Read hispanic and latinx authors

This is an ongoing effort and it picked up thanks to the Latinx Book Bingo that happened on September, a lot of great books and authors were put on blast and I added a good number to my TBR. I hope to get to them soon.

Seek out more diverse books

Yep, I’m doing it. I’m reading mostly queer books but I’m also trying to read authors from different cultures as well to open my horizons. Sometimes it’s too easy to stay within the stories I know and feel comfortable with and I don’t pick up others that could potentially be even more interesting.

Post consistently

Imagen relacionada I’m not being sarcastic when I say I’m actually doing awesome on this. I’ve managed not only to post 3 to 4 times a week most of this year but on October I participated on Blogotober2018 and posted every day. It was hard and some days I didn’t even know what to write a bout but it was a lot of fun and something I’d do again in another year maybe, right now I’m dying to go back to a more chill posting schedule.

Read at least one classic book every month!

I think I’m doing pretty good, the list has changed a bit since the start of the year but I feel okay about that and I’ll try and meet all the resolutions by the end of 2018.

  1. I’m also doing PRETTY good on my resolutions, but not perfect. I’ve been posting a lot and even keeping up with my lame bookstagram once a week. I read a couple books I had in mind (one by Stephen King, Catcher in the Rye) and I’ve almost tripled my Goodreads goal (52…but I’m at 140) but I haven’t yet read a book by one of my professors or kept up with my BOTM choices.

    1. You are amazing! I’m too much of a coward to read Stephen King but I’d like to read Catcher in the Rye sometime. Your goodreads is what dreams are made of, 140??? I wish you the best of luck with your other two resolutions, I’m sure you’ll get them! (and if not, there’s always next year)

  2. That’s awesome! I didn’t set a Goodreads goal this year but probably will in 2019. And I had to laugh at your Classics one. I don’t do very well with classics either *sigh*

  3. I’m glad you felt you could change your goodreads goal!! You are so right, if you are not having fun there is point in doing it!! And that is a great answer for the last one! 😂😂 That is why I don’t do very many reading goals. That would be my answer for everything 😂

    1. I just got to the point where I was almost 8 books behind schedule and stressing about it so I went “fuck this” and lowered to the next acceptable number. It just made sense.
😂That last one was my reaction when I read the resolution like… what classic have I read? at all??
