Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Today’s topic is….
Books That Have Been On My TBR the Longest
and I Still Haven’t Read
Have you met me?? The hard thing will be choosing just ten books. My TBR is endless and every day I add at least two more
I don’t know if these are the ones that have been there the longest but they are the ones I feel most guilty about
I’ll put a link to the goodreads page you each book I mention so you can see what they are about.
Listen, I have a serious problem that is I don’t like endings. They are a vital part of books but I just can’t deal. If I love a series then I’ll take the longest time before reading the last book simply because I want to enjoy them a little bit longer. So I’m predicting that there’ll be quite a few books that finish a series.
I read the first book and absolutely adored it, I was so excited to get the second one that I bought it on GoogleBooks two days after the release and… it’s still there, waiting.
The ship beyond time by Heidi Heilig
Same thing as ODD. The first book The girl from everywhere blew my mind, it spoke about home and belonging in such a real way that I felt like it was written just for me. And so, I don’t wanna see that story end and leave me behind
i have issues, i know
This is the first instalment of a trilogy I heard great things about. I bought the book in Spanish because it was cheaper and I think that’s part of why I haven’t gotten around to it yet. Although it’s my first language I’ve become more comfortable reading in English and so I’m slower in Spanish, which annoys me and then I don’t want to read.I will read it soon but now that I have a kindle physical books have become bothersome.
I follow Alice’s web comic Heartstopper and I love it. The story, the characters, the design, BUT I haven’t read one of her books yet. A friend of mine has been recommending RS to me for quite a while and I know I will like it. I just need to start reading.
La sombra del viento (the shadow of the wind) by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
This is a book by a Spanish author that more than half my family have read and fallen in love with. They tell me to read it because I will really enjoy it and I will do it… eventually. In this case I do have a valid excuse though, everyone else was reading it and it hasn’t been put down since we bought it.
I have told everybody who would listen that this is RR’s best series so far. And I mean it. But it’s the same problem as the first two, there’s nothing more after this book, nothing to hope for except fanfiction and I don’t feel ready for that.
Illuminae by Ami Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
I’ll admit it, I fell for the awesome cover. How could I not?? So I spent a lot of money on getting this book on hard cover and it’s been gathering dust on my shelf since then. I don’t even read sci-fy normally. Still, I bought it and i WILL read it
I mean, I love Wonder Woman and I love Leigh, what am I doing with my life??
Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
I was introduced to the Grisha verse by Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom and I wanna go back there. I’ve read some people say that these are a bit slower and more exposition but I want to read them anyways
This book was so hyped that it made my TBR almost as it was published. I liked both the premise and the cover and there’s now a second book out so I’m looking forward to reading it whenever that happens.
So there you have it! Ten books that I will read and love but that have to wait a while more before that happens.
Are any of you doing TTT? If so let me know and I’ll see what you’ve had on your TBR for the longest time
